Hector Chavana Sr. [In Memoriam]

Houston Family Law Attorney

The son of a World War II veteran and lay-genealogist, Hector Chavana Sr. was born in McCallen, Texas, and had a variety of life experiences. He attended Thurgood Marshall College of Law in Houston, and he had three children.  He had decades of experience in practicing in Houston, Texas and federal courts. Hector Chavana Sr. encouraged his son, Hector Chavana, Jr. to pursue the practice of law, and Jr. had the opportunity to clerk for Sr. while Jr. was in law school.

Hector Chavana Sr. obtained his master’s degree from Chicago University and graduated from Thurgood Marshall Law School in 1980.  Hector Chavana Sr. began his legal practice in 1981 in Houston, Texas, and practiced in Houston his whole life.  He has had decades of experience in various areas of the law including real estate, family and criminal law.  Hector Sr. practiced in the Southern District of Texas and was a practicing lawyer in Houston since the eighties. He has earned various acknowledgments for his community work, including:

Mr. Chavana died on November 30, 2022 at his home, which was blocks away from his office.  Although Mr. Chavana never worked directly for Chavana Law, PLLC, he was a great inspiration for the office. He is sorely missed by his son, and staff, and, before he passed, he saw his son form Chavana Law, PLLC and hire his first associate, Sergio Perez.
